Bendra kasos vėžio gyvenimo trukmės statistika gana pilka: apie 87% pacientų miršta per 5 metus[1]. Tikimybė po kasos vėžio diagnozės išgyventi daugiau nei 10 metų tesiekia 2%. Kasos vėžio išgyvenamumas išlieka vienas prasčiausių[2].
Tačiau tarp šios tikrai niūrios statistikos sužibo vilties žiburėlis. Mokslininkai, tirdami pacientus, kurie pateko į tuos 2% žmonių, kurie įveikė kasos vėžį ir nepasidavė statistikai, rado daug žadančių sąsajų[3].
Mokslininkai, įtardami, kad tai gali būti susiję su imunitetu, ištyrė kiek imuniteto ląstelių yra auglyje ir nustatė, kad kuo daugiau imuniteto ląstelių, tuo ilgesnis paciento išgyvenimo laikas[4].
Buvo lyginami kasos vėžio navikai iš žmonių, kurių gyvenimo trukmė buvo trumpa ir kasos vėžio navikai iš žmonių, kurių gyvenimo trukmė buvo ilgesnė nei 5 metai. Pastarosios grupės navikuose buvo aptikta beveik 12 kartų daugiau imuninių ląstelių, vadinamų T-ląstelėmis[5].
T-ląstelės reikalingos atpažinti ir atskirti įsibrovėlius, pavyzdžiui, infekcijas ir vėžį, nuo įprastų kūno ląstelių.
Šie atradimai rodo, kad imuninės sistemos stiprumas yra lemiamas veiksnys kovoje su kasos vėžiu. Kuo aktyvesnės T-ląstelės ir NK ląstelės, tuo didesnė tikimybė patekti į tą procentą žmonių, kurie paneigia statistiką.
Grybų polisacharidai yra viena labiausiai ištirtų natūralių priemonių, galinčių aktyvuoti būtent šias imunines ląsteles. Tačiau svarbu suprasti: paprasti grybų milteliai ar alkoholio ekstraktai tam yra per silpni. Polisacharidai tirpsta tik vandenyje, todėl tik vandens pagrindo ekstrakcija leidžia išgauti veikliąsias medžiagas.
